Cone beam computed tomography is an innovative medical imaging technique that provides endodontists with three-dimensional views. In certain cases, CBCT greatly enhances the endodontist’s ability to diagnose, evaluate, treat and care for patients. During a CBCT scan, the machine rotates around the patient, capturing images using a cone-shaped X-ray beam. These images are then used to construct a 3-D representation of the patient’s teeth, oral and maxillofacial region (mouth, jaw, and neck), and ears, nose, and throat.
An OPG is a panoramic scanning dental X-ray of the upper and lower jaw. It is also sometimes called Orthopantomagraph or by the proprietary name Panorex. It shows a flattened two-dimensional view of a half-circle from ear to ear. Panoramic X-rays allow images of multiple angles to be taken to make up the composite panoramic image, where the maxilla (upper jaw) and mandible (lower jaw) are in the viewed area.
It also demonstrates the number, position and growth of all the teeth including those that have not yet surfaced or erupted through the gum. It is different from the small close up x-rays dentists take of individual teeth. It shows less fine detail, but a much broader area of view. At some stage in your dental treatment, your dentist will likely take an OPG. Imagic has an OPG machine on site for your convenience; the images are produced digitally and stored in your digital file with all your other x-rays. The image is produced within seconds of the OPG being taken and your dentist will review it with you at the end of the appointment. We are even equipped to deal with volumetric airway treatment
Exposure to X-rays can cause a multitude of harmful effects to the body. The biological effects of radiation range from simple mucositis to even more dangerous conditions like carcinogenesis. Although such outcomes stem from radiation therapy, it is important to reduce the amount of radiation that the patient, dentist and dental assistant are subjected to. By employing digital radiography, dentists can reduce up to 80% of the exposure that the patient is subjected to while using conventional X-ray films.
RVG also ensures faster results and more flexible post processing capability. We choose the heavy initial investment on RGV as we adhere to our vision of providing proper and adequate medical care. The quality in provided services, infrastructure, and human relations allows us to serve as the best dental clinic in Palakkad.
Saliva is important in terms of lubricating your mouth, helping with swallowing, protecting teeth against bacteria, and aid in the digestion of food. A number of diseases can affect the normal functioning of salivary glands. These range from cancerous tumors to Sjögren’s syndrome. While some conditions go away with time or antibiotics, others require more serious treatments, including surgery. Dentistry is involved with aspects of salivary gland function in several ways, such as diagnosing problems involving the salivary glands, in the management of oral dryness, decreased salivary flow, and in controlling salivation during restorative procedures. By providing required technical assistance through radiographic imaging and services of dentists with expertise, we offer the best possible comprehensive treatment of dysfunctions of salivary glands.
Oral cancer is a serious condition that necessitates dental intervention. The removal of cancerous oral lesions is improved or enhanced through the use of laser dentistry. By adopting laser therapy, surgery and recovery times are expedited while pain is lessened. This results in a faster and easier recovery for patients. The precision of lasers results in a variety of positive outcomes for the patient.
Lasers can be used in two main ways to treat cancer:
• To shrink or destroy a tumor with heat
• To activate a chemical that kills only the cancerous cells
Lasers can remove or shape the soft oral tissue due to a reaction that essentially vaporizes small, carefully targeted sections of tissue. Laser therapy is often given through an endoscope, a narrow, lighted tube used to look at tissues inside the body. Flexible endoscopes use optical fibers, which are thin fibers, used to transmit light to the therapy site. It is inserted through an opening in the body, such as the mouth, nose, anus, or vagina. Laser light is then precisely aimed to cut or destroy a tumor. Apart from mouth cancer, lesions are also treated with laser therapy. It is only after carrying out thorough diagnosis undertaken by our expert dentists and primary treatment measures, laser therapy is prescribed and provided at Imagic.
